has anyone heard "Rumors" About New Emission regs being placed on 2 Stroke Marine diesels?
-
Here on the left coast there is a regular discussion that 2 Stroke marine diesel engines will soon be forced to be retrofitted with 4 stroke diesels. They have already stopped all pre 2007 powered semi trucks from entering any of the ports to pick up freight. Worrisome!

Like I mentioned currently I would consider it "water cooler" talk. I checked the Ca. Gov. websites and they don't make any mention of doing so. The reason behind the conversation is most likely based upon the laws not allowing 2 stroke outboards on most lakes and inland waterways and new emission requirements on all gas engines that went into effect in 2010. Also our smog laws now restrict Semi's (aka) 18 wheelers from going on to a port to pick up freight is already a reality unless the truck gets retrofitted with emission equipment that can cost as much as $20k per truck.
I just want to emphisize that I've heard this but have NOT seen any proof of it happening anytime soon.
That's why I asked if anyone else had heard such things, Definitely not trying to spread a rumor I'm just reaching out.R
