I am new to this site, so if I ask something that has been asked before, I'm sorry. I just purchased My first boat(1967 33' Alglas Sportfisher), and just bought a Lowrance HDS-5 Nautic Insight Multifunction Fishfinder/Chartplotter w/ 50/200 kHz Transducer. My boat already has a through haul transducer, but not sure I can use this with my new Lowrance. I was going to have someone mount the Transom Mount transducer that came with my unit to the stern, but before he drilled into the boat, he first wanted to know if there was any wood between the fiberglass or if it was truly " all fiberglass". Since I don't have a manual for the boat, I thought this would be a good site the answer from.

    Thanks in advance,
    Mike

    Welcome. A couple of points:
    1. Don't let him drill the transom, there is no need to mount the unit that way. This a discussion from earlier this year. You will find some excellent installation methods that are easy and effective. http://www.pacemakerboatowners.org/discussion/comment/13432/#Comment_13432

    2. The odds are great that the existing through hull transducer will not work with your Lowrance.

Thanks for your reply. Should I assume then, that my boat is indeed all fiberglass?

I have the exact same boat, In everything I have seen and been thru. Its straight all fiberglass hull. I did notice some coring on the deck. Hope this helps. If you have any questions I am happy to help.
