    I have a 1973 48 foot sportfisher. The boat is documented. I have changed the documentation to my name and am looking for the permanent documentation number that is supposed to be permanently affixed to the boat. Anyone have any ideas where to look?

    Try in the engine room and look at the stringers. My friends boat had the numbers "burned" into them.

    On ours they are routed into the side of one of the stringers adjacent to the steering ram, hard to miss since the letters are around 4" tall.
