My boat....
-
Now what to name her.... in her for the first time sat. water was choppy but man she wanted to go faster.... I was just seeing how she handles didn't want to open it up. But once I got plane she was smooth.... one thing I know is shes a looker... But after the trip I did noticed gas smell or fumes of some sort again she waits till port... so going to find where this smell is coming from... I love my boat its like she forces you to learn more to become a good capt. May look into having engine rebuilt and tanks removed they are the ones the boat came with so its about time for some TLC. Shes just like a woman though, she always wants my money... No wonder boats get named after females... Jk...
Cheers

Well, you could always name her "the other women". As for fumes, if your boat is like mine you will tend to get a station wagon effect and the way I have found to cure it is to run with the windshield open. But make sure that it is exhaust and not a gas leak as you don't need to have the risk of fire. Before you go through the expense of rebuilding you might want to look at a reman. I say this because you will find that the cost will be about the same and with a reman you will get an warrenty. There are plenty of outfits out there. I used Rapido marine and was very happy with the service and price, but as I say look on the web for you best deals. How many hours are on your engine and is it origanal?
Now as to the fuel tanks, if they are monel which is what my '67 express came with you probably don't need to do anything except for possibly having them cleaned. Look up fuel polishing, with that you don't even have to pull the tanks. They will do the work with them right in the boat.

Wow... your girl looks like mine.. Is yours a 67? You have a nice boat aswell.. As for the engine yeah it looks like its the one in 1976. 318 was the engine they used but will have to inspect more to see if it was the first one. Well today I noticed oil in the bilge. Not alot so i'm thinking a small leak somewhere for the boat did sit for along time before I rescued her from chain saws.. Having a good look at her tomarrow. Hours 89453 is whats on it. lol looks like my engine needs a over haul... The tanks look like a tainted metal with belly bands around it both sides. I will have a closer look tomarrow to see if its monel. Hope so but I need to go thru her and find out if it may be gas I smelled. Also did noticed the floor was getting hot. But engine temp wasn't so I think it exhaust. Plus I need to upgrade the bilge venting.. couple more motors wouldn't hurt. Yeah I'm going to leave windows down aswell see if that helps felt like I was at a race trac with the exhaust.
Thanks for all this info, I love it..
