Old Diesel Fuel

Old Diesel Fuel
  • pace40pace40 October 2011

    Hi All
Have posted re: experience with old diesel fuel (7 years old) but have a chance to buy 1000 gallons of 18 year old #2 at $1.00/gal.
Would use it in 504 V8 Cummins' which are reletively forgiving vs new, sensitive systems.

    Would appreciate ANY thoughts

    Best, Bob

I bet it is just fine, you might run through a filter so you don't get a bunch of water.

    Thanks Mike

Been following your progress on the Lost Pearl site. You're a great inspiration to a back yard mechanic like me

    Regards, Bob

PS: My daughter's going to U of Louisville next year. I'll try get down and see it first hand

    Bob,
I have seen firs hand the "bio-crap" that grown in diesel. You would be amazed! Get some samples if possibe, so you can "see" what your dealing with. Alot of biocide and a good water seperator may be all you need. Good luck. Scott.

I wouldn't be afraid of it, but filter, filter and filter. And good biocide , then filter. For the price, maybe one of these portable fuel polishing units would be the ticket.
    Good Luck, let us know.

    Good thoughts guys, thanks
I use Raycors and the garbage that I drain from the sediment bowl looks like what we thought Saddam Hussain was making

    Happy New Year
