Need Some Engine Information
  • 44pace44pace August 2011

    Hello All,
I have a 1966, 44' Pace with 427's that have Pacemaker 320hp marked on the valve covers. How can I find out who did the marine conversion to the engine? I want to replace the water hose from the pump to the thermostat housing and the hose is an odd ball size and the guy at the marine store said he needed to know who did the conversion????? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

"marine store said he needed to know who did the conversion??" Don't make much sense. Bring in the hose. If he cant get it, go to another marine store, or on line with the info.G'luck..

@44pace : the Pacemaker Pacer engines were marinized by Thermo-Electron Corporation. This is the company that produces Crusader engines. my experience is that the difference between the Pacers and the Crusaders of the same era amounts to little more than the paint scheme (and the engine mounts, which seem to be rather different too).

Take a look at the on-line schematics for Crusader engines available here:

    http://www.marinepartssource.com/crusaderpb/454-350.asp

You might be able to identify the correct hose from the schematics.

    Best regards,

Hello Patrick, The original serial numbers were 53509 and 53319. It is amazing that the Virginia M III has the same engines, 35 yrs after she sank. I guess they just don't build engines today like they used to!
