Alglas 25/26 Construction Differences?

Alglas 25/26 Construction Differences?
  • Mako236Mako236 July 2011

Are there any differences in the construction of these across the model years?

I see the windows tend to leak but what about other big-ticket problem areas like stringers / transom / engine bed?

    Thank you,

    Jack

I can only tell you of my experiance and I have had no problems with the hull, stringers or engine bed. I do have to do some work under the rails some time but all in all they are tough old gals that are very sea worthy.

Hi, I have put a link to a few pics of a 25' Alglas SF and a link to many pics of my 26 Pacemaker SF. The 26 is a much different layout, maybe the pics will help.

    Hi rickforth,

Great pictures! I see that you re-powered with a Merc 5.7, did you have to modify the back deck/engine cover at all? or did the new engine fit neatly underneath the hatch like the original?

    thanks

The 5.7 fit cleanly with no modification needed to the hatch or decking.

Seems way different from my 25' round bottom boat....here are a couple pics, if anyone needs a swim platform or anchor pulpit made I belive the guys that work for me still have the molds.

Thanks for all of your responses. Rubber Duck is a real inspiration. I just bought my latest project and hope I can count on everyone's good help as I restore her!!!
