NEED DIMENSIONS ON A 1969 32' ALGLAS FLYBRIGE
  • It is my sad duty to transport my 1969 32' Alglas from Babylon, Long Island, NY to my home in CT. (LOOOONG Story) I need transport permits; and neither CT or NY (or NY City) will take my measurements for beam or height. Anyone know of a spot where I can get verifiable dimensions?

I have a 1967 33 sport fish, I am on LI, my boat is not (yet).. I have the measurements from mine, but nothing official...nothing in writing. I know its around $1500.00 just for the permits to get across the the throgs neck bridge. If I can help in any way, let me know.

Check with the commodore on this forum. He has the pacemaker files. The measurement for our 1963 32' sea skiff was in our folder.

  • Thanks to everyone - I decided to use the Pt Jeff ferry (reserving six spaces, @ $600) as my best bet. NYC oversize fees are obscene.

  • As a postscript...I ended up using SVENSSON BOAT TRANSPORT. Svensson was recommended to me by the seller, who used them to bring her to their home in Long Island. They brought it to CT from LI for $2150 (plus a $300 tip). She came "home" on 3 Jan - thank God it was a mild winter, as I needed to pump water out from below the forward compartment.

BTW...I can't say enough about Svenssons...they were gonna bring her here in late August; but Irene hit. Then, I couldn't take her until October; then a freak snowstorm hit. What can I say...the gods were against us. But - - - they coached me through everything they'd want once she arrived here; and the delivery guy was absolutely FANTASTIC!!! He helped setting up blocking, etc., and did a great job from beginning to end. I'd enthusiastically refer them to ANYONE who needs transport.

The cost for an oversize boat over the Throg's Neck bridge in NYC is $165...but the NYC oversize permit is $1,300. for a total of $1,465. The extra $700 to save on my truck's tranny seems cheap in comparison (not to mention gas!)
