Prop & Rudder Removal
-
I have to remove the props and rudders for transport (36' SF).
I ordered a prop puller tool and have read up on removing them. Has anyone done this and have Pacemaker specific tips or tricks. It sounds like I might need to use heat (a torch) with the puller.
Also, is there anything difficult about removing the rudders? -
Danno,
Nothing to it. DO NOT USE HEAT! I sprayed my shaft with a penitrating oil and then used the puller. Tighten it up and give it a good wack with a dead blow hammer. Protect the threads by useing a plastic one. It should pop right off. Though it very likely will pop off without the hammer when you tighten the puller. I have never done the rudder so I can't help with that. -
Trop puller will get the prop off pretty easily. The rudders are simple as well. Hit everything with some good oil (personal favorite is Kroil). Remove the steering linkage and the collors that hold the rudder shafts in place and they will drop right through the bottom
