engine replacement

If the engine is seized up it all matters on how badly things are rusted and fused together. A professional mechanic to evaluate the condition could be an option. Good Luck

I just bought a 72 35' houseboat with a seized engine. Pulled the spark plugs a got some water in one of the cylinders. The oil dip stick is just old oil no milkness. The motor has not run in 2 years. Is there any hope or do i just get a new engine?

with the battery (if any) disconnected pull all the spark plugs, get a ratchet/socket on the crankshaft (may need a breaker bar) and see if you can turn over the motor, should not be that hard with the plugs and belts removed.

    good luck!

Before you try turning it over dump some penetrating oil in the cylinders and let them sit and soak. That way you won't score the cylinders if it does start to turn over.

If you use diesel fuel or trans fluid you will have better luck with diesel and DONT put a socket on the crank if you break the bolt on the harmonic balancer you will have a job to get it put pull the starter if you can and put a breaker bar in the teeth on the flywheel to break it loose

hello i am new but was gracefully given a nice 63 36ft'r sportfisher i think not sure but she is pretty much better than a cc. she's been out of water and sitting for three yrs, supprise very lil rot just a fewopt under windows i hear this is common area though. i cant get her to turn over n being flywheel forward do not know how to try to break her free if its possible

i did find a set of 350 omc's if i can't get them going will the omc's work in a pacemaker with my tranny,

Before you go and dump a lot of money into the boat, I would suggest you get her survayed so you have a clear idea of what you are getting yourself into. Once you know, then you can decide on your next action.
